Broad Ripple Village


The return of the Taste in 2017 was a great success, and thanks to everyone that attended!  Due to popular demand, the Fifth Annual Taste of Broad Ripple will be another exciting afternoon on the open streets of Broad Ripple Village, June 16th, 2018 3:pm to 10:pm, either rain or bright shiny day!    The Taste was created to celebrate everything that Broad Ripple is: an eclectic mix of restaurants, independently owned shops, bars, brew pubs, and live music. With activities for the kids, live music for the millennials, and food and adult drinks for the connoisseurs, Taste of Broad Ripple has something for everyone.

2018’s Taste of Broad Ripple will feature The Main Stage with four live rockin’ bands, 30 of the best local food vendors in Broad Ripple, a Kids’ Tasty Pizza Tent and Kid’s Play Area for family-friendly fun, a Chef’s Night Off  Cook Off Chef’s Tent, a Kid’s ID Tent, a Beer & Cocktail Garden, the Colts Interactive museum, a bounce house, a School of Rock Stage, face painting and balloon artist for all ages, stilt walker, and much more. This event is not to be missed! Mark your calendars for the 2018 Taste of Broad Ripple—where everyone can “Experience the Flavor!”

Tickets: $7 at the gate; Gates Open at 3:pm. Cash or Credit Card: Free for kids 11 and under.  A percentage of ticket sales will be donated to Riley Children’s Hospital.  There will also be 60 tickets available for a VIP Tasting Experience in the CNO Tent for the Celebrity Chef’s Cook Off.

The event will start at 3:pm and run until 10:pm, taking place in the open streets of Broad Ripple, which will be closed to traffic for several blocks. New map coming soon, with a larger foot print of space for the Taste in 2018!


Free shuttles will run throughout festival hours to and from the Glendale Mall. There is no cost to park or ride the shuttle. Shuttles will run approximately every 20 minutes to and from Glendale Mall, from 2:30pm to 10:30pm. Click HERE to view a Google Map of the location.

Parking is also availabe at the parking garage at 6280 N. College Ave.  Cost is $6.

Volunteering:  We need your help!

Putting on The Taste is a big deal, and having people like you to help during the event is a big part of it.  You can volunteer for a 4-hour shift in which there are several to pick from during the day. By working as a volunteer you get free admission to our really fun event and a collectible Taste t-shirt! More information will be posted several months prior to the event in June 2018 outlining how you can get involved.

Food/Restaurant Vendor or Non-Food Vendor

If you are interested in becoming a Food Vendor with booth space, please download the Food Vendor Detail Document, fill out the online Google Vendor Form Application, and review the Marion County Health Department requirements.  If you are interested in becoming a Non-Food Vendor please download the Non-Food Vendor Detail Document Application.

Entertainment at Taste will consist of four live bands performing on The Main Stage, serenading attendees with a mixture of folk-rock, bluegrass, funk, and great foot tapping and sing-a-long rock n’ roll.  The Main Squeeze, a nationally touring band originally out of Bloomington, IN, will headline the 2018 Taste!  Other artists performing will include Bigfoot Yancey, Clint Breeze & The Groove, and The Stampede String Band.  Plus in the Riley Kid’s Area will be The School of Rock Stage, featuring young musicians from grade school to high school.  (School of Rock stage will perform from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm.)  Great entertaining music will fill the air during the Taste while you’re enjoying all the tasty food and beverages.

Main Tents

Kids' Tasty Pizza | 3 — 6:30 pm

In this Kid’s Tasty Pizza Tent, sponsored by HotBox Pizza, young chefs will roll the dough to create their own 8″ pizzas. All pizzas will be cooked on the spot and judged. The chef of the pizza deemed “Most Creative” will win a special trophy.  This will be in the parking lot behind The Vogue.

Chef's Night Off Cook Off| 3— 5pm

From 3:pm to 5:pm this tent will feature some of the top chefs from the Broad Ripple and around Indy’s northside food scene. These creative local chefs will create competitive dishes to be judged by a panel of local celebrities.  Special portions will be created for judging.

Tickets will be available for  a special Cook Off VIP Tasting Experience!

The Chef’s Night Off Cook Off Tent will be run by volunteers, including cooks and culinary school students.

Beer & Cocktail Garden | 3 — 10 pm

The Taste is a great opportunity for Indy residents to sample some of the best new brews in the Yuengling Beer Tent and mixed drink reciepes in the Southern Cocktail Tent.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is there a dress code?

    Nope! Dress for Indiana summer time fun.

  • Will I need cash or credit card?

    You will need both. Admission fee is $7 cash or credit card. Some vendors will have cash and credit card accessibility. Beer Garden will be cash only. There will be several ATMs on site for your convenience.

  • Will weather affect this event?

    Nope. Taste is a rain or shine event. Let the sun shine! How about 70 degrees and sunny? :)

  • Are there age restrictions on entrance?

    Nope. All ages are welcome, kids 10 and under get in free! If you choose to drink alcoholic beverages you will need to go to the I.D. tent and get a wristband at the ID Tents. Without the wristband on, you won’t be served or allowed to consume alcoholic beverages.

  • What is the pricing of food items and drinks?

    Food vendor pricing will vary, but we have asked food items to be priced between $2 and $4. Beer and mixed drinks will vary from $5 to $7. Bottled water will be available for $1.

  • Will there be reentry allowed?

    If you leave Taste you will be given a hand stamp which will allow you re-admission.

  • Is alcoholic beverage consumption confined to a beer garden or limited space?

    No. Once you have a wrist band, showing you are 21+, you are allowed to walk around the taste consuming your beverage. Note that wristbands are not transferable. If you do this you will be subject to removal from Taste.

  • Will there be security at Taste?

    Yes! We will have the Indy Metro Police Department and ESG security in numbers making sure everyone is safe.

  • What are we allowed to bring into Taste with us?

    No alcoholic beverages of any type, nor coolers of any type. (Certain exceptions will be made for kids in strollers.)
    NO firearms or weapons of any type.
    All bags or backpacks will be searched prior to admission.
    Small folding camp/lawn chairs.
    No illegal substances of any kind.

  • What time and what streets will be blocked off for The Taste?

    Streets will be blocked off Saturday morning, June 16, 2018, at 5: am to Midnight. New map coming soon, with a larger footprint of space to Taste in 2018.

  • What type of foods will be available?

    Our goal with Taste is to provide a wide variety of foods for you, the visitor. We have encouraged the vendors to have bite-size samples at a low cost, and include foods for all types, including meat eaters, vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.

  • Are dogs allowed?

    Only if they are on a leash and well behaved. Please clean up their poop.

  • Is Taste handicapped accessible?

    Yes. The Taste will be on the smooth sidewalks and streets of Broad Ripple village. We will also have handicapped accessible portolettes.

  • Will there be paramedics on site?

    Yes. We are concerned about your safety. For outdoor events be sure to stay hydrated with lots of water. If something happens that requires medical attention, we will have paramedics and an ambulance standing by.

  • What type of parking will be available?

    We will have free parking at Glendale Mall. Free shuttle service will take you here and back every 20 minutes. There is also a pay to park lot at the corner of Broad Ripple Ave and N College.

  • What type of music will be at Taste?

    On the main stage, provided by The Colts, there will be some of the best rock original and cover bands around!

  • Should I plan on having fun?

    Yes! That is our goal with the Taste of Broad Ripple! The Village has been known by many as a place to have a great time!
